Formation of Karnataka Society for Fast Justice

Background: Sri Pravin Patel, National Convener of Forum for Fast Justice met few social activists at Bangalore including Mr. Mathews Philip, Executive Director SICHREM and Michael Fernandez, renowned Trade Union Activist and few others to explore possibility of involving people of Karnataka in the national movement of Judicial Reforms. Also during Nationwide Nyay Yatra that was flagged off from Rajghat, New Delhi on 30th January, 2016 visited Bangalore where former Chief Justice of India Hon’ble Sri Venkat Chelliah and others welcomed Nyay Yatra at Bangalore and at his residence, a meeting was organized to discuss on need of Judicial Reforms in the light of our snail paced justice delivery system.
Formation of Karnataka Society for Fast Justice (for short KSFFJ) gained momentum with the first brain storming meeting which was conducted on 31st January 2018 at SCMI house Bangalore. Mr. Mathews Philip, Executive Director SICHREM presided over the meeting. Shri Praveen Patel, National Convener of Forum For Fast Justice spoke about Forum For Fast Justice and its vision, mission, goals, aims & objectives etc. Around 40 people from cross section of society attended the meeting which started by 3:30 pm. At this meeting, it was unanimously decided to constitute a Society for Karnataka state by the name Karnataka Society for Fast Justice (for short KSFFJ). It was also decided that a separate meeting will be called soon to discuss about Executive Committee and adopt a Constitution.
As decided by the first meeting the meeting for constituting and electing the office bearers of Karnataka Society for Fast Justice was conducted on 29th June 2018, at SCMI Bangalore. Around 30 people participated in the meeting who all happy and enthusiastic about the formation of the Karnataka Society for Fast Justice. At this meeting, it was unanimously elected Mr. Michael Fernandez, renowned Trade Union Activist as the President of the Karnataka Society for Fast Justice (for short KSFFJ). The meeting also unanimously elected Mr. Ranganathan Manohar, as the Secretary; Advocate Akhila Vidyasandra, as Treasurer; Ms. Asha Ramesh as Vice-President and Mr. Mathew Thomas (SICHREM) as Joint Secretary. The meeting also elected the Director Board for the KSFFJ. The meeting also decided to conduct another brain storming session to frame the Memorandum of Association and Rules & Regulations of KSFFJ and to take other necessary decisions for the smooth functioning of KSFFJ.
The third meeting and first one after the election of the Office Bearers and Director Board of the Karnataka Society for Fast Justice (KSFFJ) was conducted on 25th July 2018 at ISI, Bangalore. KSFFJ President Mr. Michael Fernandez presided over the meeting. Founder president of the Forum for Fast Justice Shri Bhagawanji Raiyani and National Convener Mr. Pravin Patel also participated in the meeting. Mrs. Dr. Anjali Chakravorty, President of Tripura SFFJ, Mr. S. Ramesh, President of Tamilnadu SFFJ also joined the meeting, that was participated by around 35 members of KSFFJ. After the input sessions from both the President and the National Convener of FFFJ. The meeting had a detailed discussion about the Vision, Mission and activities about the Society. The meeting also decided to select a Drafting Committee for drafting the By Law for the KSFFJ and convene a drafting committee meeting as soon as possible. Once the draft by law is made the Society will call for a General Meeting to finalize and approve the draft and then formally register the Society.
